How To Measure Leaf Spring For Replacement on Utility Trailer

Question:

I have a 5 x10 Utility trailer that I am redoing. I am putting new tires .new hub and bearings and i noticed leaf springs.. I measured from center of eye to center of the other.. and I am getting 25- 3/4. 3 leaf pack is what I got on there now. That measurement seems to be way off. What are the correct ones that I need for my trailer. Ive been told its a 3500 pound axle

I recommend to jack up the trailer so the axle hangs freely then measure from straight across from the center of one eye to the center of the other eye to see what you get. Since leaf springs can flatten over time this is the best way to get the most accurate measurement possible. Once you have that measurement it is easier to replace the leaf springs.

It sounds like you may have 3-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 4,000-lb Trailer Axles part # e57SR that measures 25-1/4" long but you would want to measure without the suspension engaged on the trailer to be sure. I have also attached a helpful article to help you measure the other components that may need to be replaced as well.
