Why Cant Some Bike Racks Be Used On Back of Trailer
Question:
Hello , Why could you not hook this up to a travel trailer or 5th wheel? Thank you!

Only certain bike racks are tested and rated for use behind a camper or 5th wheel trailer. The ride behind a trailer is quite a bit rougher when compared to on a standard passenger vehicle so many racks, including the Swagman XC # S64650 that you referenced, just aren't up to the task of being able to withstand the extra abuse they will take with this application.
I can't say what in particular makes this carrier unsuitable for use behind a trailer but Swagman has deemed that it's not quite strong enough.
For a platform-style carrier that is rated for use behind a camper/5th wheel trailer I strongly recommend the Swagman Dispatch # S44FR. This heavy-duty carrier features cushioned hooks that secure your bikes by the frame and sliding cradles that let the rack support bikes of varying sizes. It can handle 2 bikes that are up to 45 pounds each and locks are included to help protect your investments.
I have attached a short video review that you can check out as well.
