Best Parts to Flat Tow a 2019 Ford Ranger

Question:

We are looking at purchasing a 2019 Ford Ranger 4x4 which is 4 wheel down towable. The truck comes with pre-installed tow hooks on the front of the vehicle. Can these connect to a tow bar for flat towing behind a motorhome? If so, which tow bar works with this configuration?

While you can flat tow a 2019 Ford Ranger, like you mentioned, tow hooks are for emergency towing only and do not have the necessary strength to flat tow this truck, so you will need base plates. The good news is we offer every part you need to flat tow your '19 Ranger, and the best parts to do so are the following:

- Base Plate Kit: Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM-524459-5
- Tow Bar: Roadmaster Nighthawk All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar w/ LED Lights # RM-676
- Wiring Kit: Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267
- Roadmaster Brake-Lite Relay Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-88400
- Supplemental Braking System: SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System # SM99251
OR
- If your motor home has air brakes: SMI Air Force One Supplemental Braking System for Motor Homes with Air Brakes # SM99243

The Roadmaster base plates will give your '19 Ranger a clean look, as you can see in the accompanying photo of these base plates installed on this truck. The Nighthawk tow bar is considered by most to be the best tow bar on the market because it has long arms which make it easier to maneuver when towing, along with integrated safety cables and LED lights so you can see when you are hooking up/unhooking when it's dark out.

The Flexo-Coil wiring kit is designed to prevent any type of electrical feedback to keep the Ranger's electrical system safe, and the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO as well as the SMI Air Force One supplemental braking systems are strongly recommended because they not only give you effective braking, but are a one-time install which will never require any type of removal or reactivation.

You may also need a high-low adapter in order to keep the truck level, and I've added a link to a help article which shows you how to determine if you need an adapter as well as a link to our selection of adapters.

Additionally, I have added links to instruction manuals, video reviews and installations for you to take a look at.
