Best Cross Compatible Roof Rack for a Leased 2019 Mazda CX-5

Question:

Hi there. I just picked up a new 2019 Mazda CX-5. Its a lease, so I would ideally like a roof rack system that may offer some compatibility with a future vehicle, or at least have the broadest compatibility now, to give me more options for reselling it later. I made the mistake of buying the OEM roof rack system on my last lease, but since it isnt compatible with the new model, its worthless to me now, and Id rather not buy a whole new OEM system every 3 years! Since its a naked roof, Im looking at: 1. Thule Wingbar Evo system TH711400, TH710501,TH145079, 2. Yakima JetStream system Y00428, Y00146, Y06130,Y06154, and 3. Inno Aero system INXB130-138, INXS250, INK497. I know you cant tell the future, but do you have any idea which system is newer, more broadly compatible, etc, that might give me the most options in 3 years. Are any of the parts in the above bundles specifically made for my model 2017-2019 Mazda CX-5? Thanks for the info!!

The best overall system that we have for your 2019 Mazda CX-5 is the Thule WingBar Evo Crossbar Roof Rack part # TH711400, part # TH710501, and part # TH145079. The reason being is that they are the best quality, have the quietest crossbar design on the market, and tend to have the best fit to the vehicle.

In regards to cross-compatibility, the edge goes to both Thule and Yakima. The only part of these systems that is specific to the vehicle is the door clip so if you purchase a new vehicle with bare roof, all you would need is a new set of door clips. If the vehicle has flush or raised side rails then you might need to replace the mounting feet as well but the crossbars could be reused for most applications.
