Dimensions of Double-Eye and Slipper Trailer Leaf Springs
Question:
how is the half length generally measured that is, when viewing new leafsprings and the half length is indicated is it measure using tape measure or a straight measure?

If you refer to the linked diagram for the double-eye leaf spring # e27SR that you referenced you'll see that we include two dimensions to the halfway point (lengths A and B) which differ. Dimension B is longer than dimension A since B follows the curve of the spring stack. Usually the straight eye-to-eye dimension is the one used to select a new spring.
With a slipper type spring like # SP-179275 (shown in the other diagram) the same two dimensions are labeled as A and D and again these two differ by an inch due to the curvature of the spring stack.
