How to Test Converter Box of Trailer Wiring to Determine if Box Has Internal Problem
Question:
I have installed the C56320 on my 2019 Ford Escape and was able to follow the instructions for the 2017 Ford Escape video. Other than the Shelf not being available on my Escape, there was no issues or differences in the setup. However, after installing the device, the I26 tester I ordered did not work. I assumed that I had messed up some of the wiring crimps, but I used my multi-meter and was getting a maximum of about 0.1 VDC. Before I try to replace wiring, I wanted to know if this was a sign that I had a defective module and request a replacement if it was.

Here's how you use your circuit tester to determine where the problem is. Use it to test the wires that run into the converter box first. If voltage is present there then you know the convert box has a problem. If there is no voltage there then the issue is related to the connection to the vehicle wiring.
If the box is bad you'll need to replace the kit. Which if it's brand new it's most likely bad and needs to be warrantied.
