Replacement Seal for Chicago Rawhide 12407 on Old Boat Trailer
Question:
Noticed that while my old boat trailer specs call for a Chicago Rawhide 12407 seal with an id of 1.25inch and an od of 1.979, most replacement seals similar to this and even cross referenced to that model number now have measurements of 1.249inch id, and 1.983od. Are these newer seals with this newer measurement an acceptable replacement... or do i need to find that exact older seal?

Expert Reply:
The dimension differences between your original seals and the replacements you referenced is small enough that the two sizes will still be interchangeable. Since both # 34823 (a single seal) and # RG06-010 (a pair of seals) are the preferred double-lip type seal they will provide superior performance to the original single lip seal 12407.
