5th Wheel Hitch Comparison for 2008 Dodge 2500 SB

Question:

I have a 2008 Dodge Mega Cab 2500 SB with a 3075 Montana 2008 fifth wheel trailer with the more ride. I want the best hitch for this application and the difference in cost between the two does not matter. Thank you!

It looks like we have two good options for you, the Reese 16K, part # RP30075, # RP50140-58 and the B&W Companion, part # BWRVK3370, # RP30074. The Reese 16K has a GTW of 16000 lbs with a 11 inch slide adjustment to allow you to make 90 degree turns with a short bed truck, however this product uses above bed rails that may interfere with full utilization of the truck bed when not towing.

The B&W Companion hitch has a GTW of 20000 lbs with a 12 inch slide adjustment and uses an 18000lb under-bed rail kit that allows uninhibited use of the truck bed when the hitch is removed.

Be sure you weigh your trailer fully loaded and ready to tow to ensure you do not exceed the maximum weight of the hitch you select or your vehicle towing capability.

If your Dodge Ram Mega Cab 2500 has a bed shorter than 6 feet you would need to go with a sidewinder replacement pin box to replace the Mor Ryde pin box on your trailer. In this case I would recommend a stationary fifth-wheel hitch and the Fifth Airborne Air Ride Sidewinder. We would need to know the model number of the Mor Ryde pin box on your trailer to select the correct replacement pin box, see link.
