Can Rear View Safety WiFi Backup Camera Be Paired to Vehicle Monitor Using Android Auto

Question:

I have a 2013 Dodge Challenger with the standard factory installed stereo no touchscreen display and obviously no backup camera. Im looking to upgrade with both but Ive noticed that there are backup cameras that use Wifi technology and therefore dont require installation. Is it safe to assume that it would work with a new in-dash display one that is compatible with Android Auto that syncs multiple apps from my phone? If thats the case, Id definitely consider buying it.

I reached out to Rear View Safety regarding their Wireless Cameras like the part # RVS-83112-WIFI that you referenced and found that the app that is needed to view the camera on your phone likely isn't compatible with Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. This means you wouldn't be able to sync it to the in-dash monitor (either factory or aftermarket) in your Challenger so that you can use it to view the camera.

At this time we do not have a wireless camera system that can be used in this manner. The RVS # RVS-83112-WIFI is still your best option though for a simple installation that doesn't require any wiring. For a bigger monitor keep in mind that you can also pair it with an iPad or Android tablet.

I have attached a short video review on this system that you can check out as well.
