Determining if SportRack Horizon Cargo Box Will Interfere with Hatch on 2018 Honda CR-V
Question:
Hello What is the distance from the front clips to secure the SR7011 to the front crossbar all the way to the outside back of the box? I need to know if my HONDA CRV, 2018 hatch will hit the box or not and the install booklet doesn’t give this info. I am also interested in the Yakima Skybox 12. Thanks

From the front mounting hardware on the SportRack Horizon Rooftop Cargo Box # SR7011 to the rear edge of the box there is a distance of 52-1/2 inches. To determine if this will interfere with the hatch on your CR-V simply measure from the center of your front crossbar back to the line where the hatch and roof meet. As long as this measurement is more than 52-1/2 inches the Horizon Cargo Box will work great.
If you find that you have a bit more room to spare on this measurement I do recommend going with the Yakima SkyBox 12 # Y07334 that you were also looking at instead. This box is simply a better option and is easier to use because of its dual-side-opening lid that lets you access your cargo from either side of the vehicle and internal anchor points that offer convenient tie-down points to better secure your gear inside the box. It has a slightly larger carrying capacity of 12 cubic feet (compared to 11 on the Horizon) but it's longer profile does stretch that hatch clearance measurement out to 57 inches.
I have attached a short video demonstration on this cargo box that you can check out as well.
