How to Help Reduce 5th Wheel Trailer Sway with 4" Difference in Front to Back Trailer Height

Question:

I have a 40ft Mobile Suites and 2019 Ford F450 with an Anderson hitch. In order to get 5” clearance at the back of the truck bed I put the hitch ball at its middle position. This puts the trailer slightly nose high, about 4 “ difference in height from the pavement front to rear. I do get sway from time to time even at slow speeds. Does not appear to occur while braking, going downhill etc preferentially. I am wondering if I should change out the pin box or try a different hitch.

There are definitely a handful of options to help you level your Mobile Suites 5th wheel trailer with your 2019 Ford F-450. If you have exhausted the height variations of the Anderson Ultimate Connection # AM3200 and your pin box then it may be useful to swap out your pin box and 5th wheel hitch but I actually have a different solution that I think you'll like better.

If you install the Lippert Components Center Point, part # LC1565391 for tandem axle or part # LC1565401 for triple axle, then you will not only raise the height of your trailer by 2" but you will also be upgrading your trailer suspension to help absorb road shock and improves your towing experience.

I can help you explore the 5th wheel hitch and pin box options as well but I don't think those adjustments will be as dramatic as raising your trailer height a little and adding the suspensions enhancement.
