Why Is a Power Wire Needed For a Trailer Wiring Harness On a 2002 Honda Civic
Question:
I have a 2002 Honda Civic LX that I am about to put a hitch on. Why do I need this adapter with a power wire? Wont a universal adapter work?

The power wire for a trailer wiring harness like the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness part # C56341 is needed on your 2002 Honda Civic because the vehicle's lighting circuits are not capable of handling the additional load a set of trailer lights would require. If you were to use a non powered trailer wiring harness you would likely short out the vehicle's lighting circuits.
If you have not already made your mind up on a trailer hitch, I recommend using the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C11204 because it is the only option for you with a concealed cross tube therefore it will look the best once installed.
