Trailer Brakes Will Not Lock Up With 2013 Eclipse Triple Axle Toy Hauler
Question:
I have a 2015 Dodge Ram with a Prodigy P2 brake controller as the stock one is bad. I have 13 volts shown on controller turned all the way up, 13.4 at the wire at brakes but only 9.4 with the brakes wired in. I have replaced axle 1and2 with your new complete brake set up 2x12, drums are good. When I pull forward and slide the brake controller over to max brake, I can feel them hit but not locking up at all. Have hooked this trailer up to a different truck and same results. I wired to just one brake axle and am getting 10.4 volts, trailer wire is good, what am I missing? Thanks for your time.

The first thing that I recommend you do is check the blue brake output wire for shorts from the trailer side connector all the way back to each braking assembly and then check the grounds for each of the braking assemblies. That said, you are going to experience some voltage drop due to the length of your trailer and distance between brake controller and braking assemblies.
Once the brake output wire is checked I would then recommend that you check/adjust the tension on your braking assemblies. If you spin the wheel while in the air then you will want a slight drag on the drum. Please note, not all trailer brakes will lock up due to various conditions such as a trailer as heavy as yours so you might just want use a more aggressive boost setting while towing as there is really not much else that can be done if the above checks out.
