How To Raise a Triple Axle Car Trailer with 7,000 Lb Axles

Question:

My goal is to raise my car trailer about 6 inches. I have considered replacing the old worn out springs, but not sure how much newer, stiffer springs will raise my trailer. I have a 3 car, triple axle trailer, with each axle rated for 7,000k. Ive also considered replacing the hangers, in conjunction with the newer springs. Please advise. Thanks

In order to raise your triple axle car trailer the amount you are looking for, you are going to need to install an axle flip kit along with a set of leaf spring hanger extensions. For an axle flip kit, I recommend the Dexter Trailer Springs Over-Under Conversion Kit part # K71-385-00 (3) and for a set of leaf spring hanger extensions, I recommend the Axle Lift Kit part # RR55QX. The axle flip kit will raise the trailer equal to the diameter of the axle and height of the leaf spring stack. The set of leaf spring hanger extensions will then raise the trailer another 2" which should get you close to the 6" you are looking for.

Please note, the axle flip kit will only work for you if your leaf springs are under the axle tube. If your leaf springs are over the axle tube then we would not have anything to raise the trailer higher than the 2" the set of leaf spring hanger extensions will offer nor do I recommend this anyhow as the center of gravity would be much too high. The addition of new leaf springs would not really raise the trailer much, if at all.
