Troubleshooting Brake Controller that Only Works with Manual Override Lever

when stepping on brake pedel no lights come on controller but when moving lever on controller get display lights

The issue is related to the stoplight circuit that the brake controller connects to with it's red wire. The red wire of the controller needs to connect to a circuit on the vehicle that only sees voltage when the brakes are applied. Most likely the red wire lost connection to where it was installed or you blew a third brake light fuse which killed this circuit as well.
