How to Determine Weight Capacity of Trailer Axles

If trailer has two 8 inch axles, five lug what is the capacity it will hold

Expert Reply:
Trailer axles that use hubs with a 5-bolt pattern can vary with their weight capacities anywhere from 2,000 lbs all the way to 4,000 lbs. It is likely that you have axles rated for 3,500 lbs but it is always best to check and make sure instead of assuming the weight rating.
Towards the middle of your axles there should be a tag that has their max weight rating on them. If you can't find those then you can take the max weight rating for your trailer and kind of estimate using that.
If you can let me know what the GVWR is for your trailer I can help you determine your axle weight rating. I have attached a link to our selection of hubs as well as other trailer parts that you can reference.
