Replacing 5-Way Trailer Connector that Has 9 Wires Ran to It

Question:

I have 8 wires coming from my trailer. The 5 flat adaptor I have on it now is worn out and im looking to replace it. I have been doing research but have not found any suggestion as to what I can do with the extra wires. From my understanding, once I hook up the following wires which are Ground Running light circuit split into 2 wires at the plug Left turn Right turn Brake lights possibly split at the plug Output to reverse lockout Do I just ignore the other wires from the 8? Or do I put them together into one connection? For an example, do I put both red wires from the 8 together into one? Or can I use just one of them and ignore the other one?

That's the most wires I've seen ran to a 5-way connector! Looks like you have several white ground wires, a running light circuit that runs to each side with the brown/green and brown/yellow, left and right stop/turn circuits, and then two reverse light circuits for the red wire.

For the combined circuits like the red wires, white, etc. you can run them all to a single wire on your new 5-way connector like the part # HM47910.
