Sturdy and Long Lasting Hitch Bike Rack For 2 Hitch

Question:

Just looking for a hitch bike rack that would fit 4 adult bikes securely. Well be traveling about 400-500 miles with the bikes. We need something that will be sturdy and last for years. The rear hatchback lifts up. Look forward to your reply.2016 GMC Yukon Denali SUV

I recommend Platform Rack part # TH969TX Thule T2 Pro XTR because of it's ratcheting arm design and the higher bike weight capacity. Sometimes with hanging racks the cradles can wear down over time or the rubber strips become torn because of the bikes weight hanging from them. There are usually less parts that need to be replaced over time with a platform style rack. The Thule T2 features ratcheting hooks that hold the bikes by the wheels without frame contact. The bike rack also tilts away with or without the bikes on the rack compared to other racks that require taking the bikes off of the rack to tilt it away. The single-bike weight capacity of the rack is 60 lbs a bike compared to other racks that normally around 35 lbs per bike.

If you need a more cost effective option, I recommend the Hollywood Sport Rider part # HR1400Z because of it's simple design and weight capacity. It is also a tilt-away rack but does require removal of the bikes before doing so. The Hollywood Sport Rider is a durable steel construction with a simple powder coat finish to resist rust. It has a 50 lb per bike weight capacity. A lot of customers appreciate the simpler design of the wheel hoops on the rack compared to the wheel cradles.

Both of the racks recommended do require a 2" hitch receiver for use.
