How to Select and Install New Bearings and Seals on EZ-Loader Boat Trailer

Question:

I’m looking for bearings for an ez loader trailer for a 1999 Sea Ray 21 bow rider. All I have is the vin. Can the wheel bearings be identified with that info?

A trailer's VIN cannot always tell us the specific bearings used in its hubs but the trailer axle weight rating can. The linked article lists the most common bearing, race and seal parts based on an axle's weight rating. You may be able to find a sticker or plate on your axle(s) that tells you weight capacity.

Even so, your surest way to go is to just pull one hub, remove its bearings and take note of the part numbers stamped into the bearings and seal. When part numbers are not available you can measure the trailer's spindle to determine the correct replacement bearings and seal. Please refer to the linked photo that shows the usual appearance of these part numbers and also where to measure to find the grease seal inner diameter (location B in the photo).

Specs for the 1999 Sea Ray Bow Rider 210 indicate a dry weight of 3400-lbs so if your trailer is a single axle it may have a 5200-lb axle which often uses bearings # 25580 and # LM67048. If the trailer has tandem axles they may be 3500-lb axles which most often use bearings # L68149 and # L44649 and seal # 58846 which are included in the bearing kit # BK2-100 that you referenced in your question.

Once you have your new bearings and seals you can use the second linked article for help with the process of packing the new bearings using marine wheel bearing grease like # L54FR and a bearing packer tool like # ALL647646.
