How to Tow a 5th Wheel Trailer with a 2015 Ram 2500 Short Bed and Gooseneck Prep Package
Question:
I have a 2015 Ram 2500 Short bed that came with the factory GN prep package Its missing the two forward stanchions so not a full 5th wheel prep package. I now need to also be able to pull a 5th wheel trailer. Are any of the adapters safe to use on the OEM GN prep package, or what are my best options without having to drill more holes into the bed? Thanks

The Demco Recon Gooseneck-to-5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter # DM8550045 will definitely fit the setup on your 2015 Ram 2500, the only problem is that since you have a short bed you will run into turning clearance issues between your trailer and cab if you ever need to take a sharp turn. Some people can successfully accomplish this but we recommend using a sliding 5th wheel hitch or alternative option to help decrease the chances of damaging anything.
Since you don't have the 5th wheel prep package the only way for you to use a sliding 5th wheel hitch and retain a gooseneck hitch is to swap out your current setup for the B&W Gooseneck Hitch # BWGNRK1384-5W and the B&W Companion Slider # BWRVK3400-5W. This will definitely give you the proper turning clearance to make up to a 90 degree turn with the 12" travel but it does require you to do some work on your truck. Please note that this won't fit the the Rambox and you need to have the factory Air Suspension system.
You could potentially use the Convert-A-Ball Cushioned 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter # CAB-C5GX1216 which gives you the adapter part but it only has a 7-1/2" offset which may not be enough for proper clearance.
I have attached some video reviews that you can check out.
