To select new electric drum brakes for your Big Tex equipment trailer you'll want to confirm the trailer's GVWR or its axle capacity so you can choose brakes with the right amount of stopping power. For example, a 14K GVWR trailer such as their 20-foot Big Tex 14ET will use brakes for a 7K axle. For a trailer rated for 12K GVWR you'll use brakes for a 6K axle.

You'll see all electric drum brakes on the page I linked for you. If you click on the 6000-lb axle rating you'll see brake sets such as our own kit # AKEBRK-7-SA which offers excellent value in a pair of self-adjusting 12 x 2-inch brakes. We also have USA-made Dexter brakes like # 23-458-459 and the ones you referenced, # 23-105-106-09, which fit both 4-bolt AL-KO/Hayes flanges or standard 5-bolt flanges. For value there is no better option than using two of kit # AKEBRK-7-SA.

When you wire the brakes either magnet wire can be used for ground or hot since they are not polarized.
