Troubleshooting Trailer Wiring Install that Operates Trailer Taillights Backwards
Question:
My boat trailer lights and switches worked perfectly this morning and for the last 5 yrs When I get home from fishing today my harness is disconnected and when I reconnect it works backwards and the wires seem shorter and tight.I drove home in a prolonged rain storm

Sounds like when you reinstalled your Curt trailer wiring harness part # C56106 you installed it backwards and need to unplug the connectors that run to the vehicle taillights and switch them to the opposite side.
Try that and let me know if it get the harness working like it should again.
