Installing the 4-pole to 7-way adapter part # 37185 that you referenced in your 2016 Ford F-150 requires making the extra circuit connections at the adapter's pigtail leads. These leads provide connection points for the trailer brake controller output (blue wire to blue pigtail), the 12V auxiliary charging circuit (orange wire to black pigtail) and if needed the reverse light wire (which goes to the purple pigtail).

The orange 12 volt power wire that is run to the rear frame should already be active; the brake controller module is protected by a 30-amp fuse in position 49 in the engine compartment fuse box.
