Troubleshooting Tekonsha Voyager Brake Controller that Is Jerky As Vehicle Slows to Stop
Question:
I recently installed this break controller and everything works great. The only issue i am having is when coming to slow stop i get a jerky feeling from the trailer before coming to a complete stop. Is my Left control knob set too high? From my understanding the right knob only controls the manual breaking mode and the left knob controls the power when the vehicles brakes are applied? Thank you for the help.

With proportional controllers like the Tekonsha Voyager part # 39510 that you referenced jerky braking action normally is caused by a controller that is not orientated properly. The inertia sensors in the controller need to correctly leveled in order for them to get an accurate reading. I attached pictures to this page that show how the Voyager needs to be positioned for you to check out.
There's also a level sensor that needs to be set too once the controller is positioned properly. You'll want to set the overall power to maximum using the knob on the side of the controller. Then, while pressing the tow vehicle's brake pedal, adjust the level knob on the other side of the brake controller (this is the same knob that is used to fine-tune the power output) until the LED monitor is a shade of orange.
For more info on the initial setup procedure check out the review video I attached for this controller as well as the install instructions link.
