How To Prevent the B&W Companion Handle From Hitting a Truck Bed Toolbox
Question:
Does bw hitch co make a shorter release handle For the hitch? We have a tool box that sits between the cab of the pickup and our new hitch. When releasing the 5th wheel pin, the hitch release bar, travels forward to far and hits the tool box. If I had a little shorter handle it would not reach the box to hit it. Does bw trailer hitches offer a shorter or deeper bent handle?

I do have a few options for you but there is not a short throw handle available for the B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # BWRVK3500-5W. That said, you can adjust the distance from the cab via switching the position of the socket post assuming it is not already in the position furthest away from the cab and or changing the position of the pivot arms if also not already in the in the position furthest away from the cab. I have attached a few photos of these adjustments for you.
If said adjustments still do not provide enough clearance then your only other option is to either move the toolbox between the hitch and tailgate or get a low profile toolbox, the UWS Truck Bed Toolbox part # UWS01066 or part # UWS01042 which are only 10" tall.
