Question:
Reese Steadi-Flex Weight Distribution System w/ Sway Control - Trunnion - 10K GTW, 1K TW My camp trailer has a give of 7582 with a 720lb tongue weight would this weight system mode be the in the correct weight range? The trailer is a Forest River Wildwood 27RKSS

Expert Reply:
With a GVWR of 7,582 pounds you are likely looking at a loaded tongue weight of between 750 and 1,140 pounds. This is simply because the tongue weight should be about 10 to 15 percent of its loaded weight. I looked up the specs for your Forest River Wildwood 27RKSS and it appears that the 720 pound tongue weight that you mentioned is with the trailer empty.
Also keep in mind that any added cargo weight coming from behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle needs to be added to your total tongue weight as well.
Based on this information I recommend going with the higher-rated Reese Steadi-Flex Weight Distribution Sytem # RP66560. This system features a tongue weight capacity of 600 to 1,200 pounds which much more comfortably matches the potential loaded tongue weight of your setup. The 500 to 1,000 pound capacity on the Reese Stead-Flex # RP66559 you were looking at could end up being under-rated by the time you load everything up.
The Reese Steadi-Flex System is a great choice and it's going to do an excellent job of leveling out your truck and camper while also drastically reducing any side-to-side movement with its integrated sway control. The only thing you will need to add if you don't have one already is a compatible hitch ball like the 2 inch # A-90 or the 2-5/16 inch # 19286.
I have attached a video demonstration on the Steadi-Flex that you can check out as well.
