To convert the factory 4-Way on your 2008 Ford Expedition to the needed 7-Way for your trailer I recommend the Hopkins # 37185. This will plug right into the existing 4-Way to provide you with a 7-Way connector at the other end. The additional wires will connect to the factory wiring located along the rear frame rail.
Now in order to actually power the trailer brakes you will also need a brake controller. For the easiest installation, setup, and operation, I highly recommend the Curt Echo # C51180. This will plug into the new 7-Way on your Expedition and sync to your smart phone via Bluetooth. Its built-in accelerometer automatically sends power back to the trailer brakes based on the rate of deceleration of the vehicle. Because your phone is what is used to make any adjustments or activate the manual override, you won't need to add an additional component to the cab like with most other controllers. This allows for a clean appearance inside the vehicle whether you're towing a trailer or not.
I have attached a video demonstration on this brake controller that you can check out as well.
