Troubleshooting Tekonsha Voyager Brake Controller Sending Constant 12V Power on Blue Wire
Question:
When I plug in my trailer the controller green light does not light. I installed a new harness and female plug on my truck 2011 Nissan frontier. The ground and 12 volt black power line check out at the trailer plug ok with a test meter. Brake light and all the other lights on the trailer work. However, I get 12 volts reading at the blue line on the trailer all the time. It does on mater if the break is applied or not. Any ideas? Thanks.

The constant 12V power you are getting on the blue brake output wire from the Tekonsha Voyager # 39510 indicates some kind of short with the wiring or on the controller itself.
The first thing I recommend doing is testing the controller to see if it's bad. To do this simply sever that blue wire a few inches away from the unit to isolate it from the truck's wiring and test it when applying the manual override. If you still get power at any other time other than when applying the override then there's an internal short on the Voyager and it will need to be replaced.
If you only received power on the wire when applying the manual override then the issue is somewhere with the truck's wiring. Trace this blue wire as far as you can back towards the 7-Way to make sure there aren't any exposed or pinched areas that need to be replaced/repaired.
If you still aren't able to pinpoint the issue please let me know and we can continue to troubleshoot.
