Trailer Hitch and Wiring for a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited X

Question:

Hello, I see someone has asked about a hitch for the new Limited X model Grand Cherokee copied below. The answer given is not accurate in the fact that the Limited X and High Altitude models use the SRT bumper cover. This cover has a removable door that allows access to the factory hitch and 4/7 way connectors on the High Altitude model similar to a Durango. I was told by the dealer that the X does not offer a hitch but would suspect it would be the same as the High Altitude. Below is the previous conversation I found on the web and a picture of the door on the back of both the X and High Altitude models. Any help you can provide is appreciated on the hitch and wiring as there may be no wiring from the factory to add to this model. Thanks! Trailer Hitch that Fits 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited X Question: Having a very difficult time getting info/parts for this trim/Limited X. Would like to purchase trailer hitch f0r above mention vehicle. Also could E=trailer name LIMITED X as a trim and list parts specific to 2019 model. THANKS asked by: TREVOR W Helpful Expert Reply: The Limited X trim of your 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee basically replaced the Laredo E trim of the older models. There are some updates that the Limited X over other models but the great news is that the hitch fits like the Draw Tite part # 75699 are the same. This hitch will fit and work great. We typically will only list out trims on fitguide pages if the trim level affects the fit of the products. Since the Limited X does not affect fit info it isnt listed currently. I attached an install video of this hitch on a 2019 Grand Cherokee for you to check out as well. helpful expert reply by: Jameson C

Yes the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited X and High Altitude models do have the same cutout for the rear bumper like the SRT model but none of the aftermarket trailer hitches actually utilize it like the OEM trailer hitch does for the High Altitude like you mentioned. Just like Jameson said, the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75699 does fit the Limited X and since it is the only option that features the hidden crosstube I recommend using it for a clean look.

Then for wiring you need the T-One # 118727 which tees in right behind your rear taillights and draws power directly from the battery via the power feed that is run to the battery.

To complete your towing setup you also need a ball mount kit like the part # 989900 because it gives you 3/4" rise, 2-3/4" rise, 2" drop, and 4" drop options as well as both a 1-7/8" and a 2" hitch ball. This kit should fit most applications. I have attached a helpful article on ball mounts that you can reference to ensure that this does fit your application.

If the trailer you decide to tow is over 2,000 lbs then Jeep requires the use of a brake controller. If this applies to you then I recommend using the Curt Echo # C51180 because it is a wireless controller that just plugs into a 7-Way connector and is adjusted through Bluetooth via an app for Apple and Android smart devices. To add a 7-Way to your Grand Cherokee for the Echo you need the Kit # ETBC7L. This connects to the T-One and then supplies power to the Echo by connecting to your battery.
