Intermittent Trailer Disconnect Warning Light On 2019 Toyota Tundra

Question:

I own a new 2019 Toyota Tundra SR5 4WD. When I have my camper plugged into the 7pin trailer connection on the truck I get an occasional Disconnect warning in my truck? I am aware of the corrosion issue and have cleaned my trailer connector for a good connection. Also I had the dealer check my truck for the 7 pin connection on the truck and everything works perfect on the truck! So I know it is the trailer thats the issue. Any thoughts?

The first thing I would do is check the wires that lead into your trailer connector as well as the wires that lead into each of the tail lights. If they are nice and secure then you are good to move on to the ground. In order to make sure you don't have a ground issue I recommend that you remove each one, sand down the surface, and then reattach. If you like, you can also run a ground wire from each light up to the main trailer ground.

If the issue still continues to happen after you have checked all your wires you may want to swap out the trailer connector as the blades inside can become worn over time and lose their grip. For this, I recommend the Pollak Black Plastic, 7-Pole, RV-Style Trailer Connector part # PK12706 which is super easy to change over. I did some research and it appears that others with this issue were good to go once they replace the trailer connector so this very well may be your issue as well.
