How To Convert a Reese 20K 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch From Fixed To Sliding

We have a 2017 f350 dually ford with 8th bed We purchase from e-trailer a 20000 lb hitch to pull our fifth wheel. Prior we had a 2012 f350 dually 8th bed same 5th wheel and had no problem with clearance. The 2017 f350!dually 8th bed will not make the 90 degree clearance. What’s the difference.

The specifications of the bed on the 2012 Ford F-350 are not exactly the same as the bed on your 2017 Ford F-350 even though they are both 8' long. The shape of the cab can also come into play as well. Unfortunately, this is just one of those cases in which you will need to use a sliding 5th wheel hitch even though you have a long bed. This is most likely due to the design of your pin box.

Therefore, in order to execute a full 90 degree turn I recommend replacing the fixed base you have for the Reese Fifth Wheel Slider w/ Rollers part # RP30048 or # RP50024. This will work just fine with the base rails you already have installed as well as the head from the Reese 20K 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch.
