Can Trailer Tire Size 225/75-15 Replace 7.00-15LT

Question:

I have a 29ft RV trailer from the 70s Im trying to get new wheels on to get it from point A to point B. It takes 7.00-15 Lt tires, but those are super expensive. I heard I could use st225-75r15 tires instead, but Im not sure if that would work for such a huge rv trailer. Im guessing it weighs about 5,000 Ibs. It only needs to ride for a 90 mile trip. Would four st225-75r15 do the trick? I got an offer for four of them already, but two with different types of treads than the other two. Will this matter? Also, should I get Load Range D or E?

Expert Reply:

The tire size of ST225/75-15 in a Load Range of D like the part # AM10256 that you referenced has a weight capacity of 2,540 lbs per tire which would easily be more than enough for a tandem axle trailer that weighs 5,000 lbs. You have about twice as much tire capacity as you'd need.

Ideally all of the tires are the exact same, but if this is a one time use scenario and you happen to mix tire brands for just this situation you'd be fine.
