The etrailer.com Trailer Hitch Receiver # E98838 that you referenced does not require a stabilization strap when using it for non-trailer loads (bike rack, cargo carrier, etc) like with the Curt alternative.

This Class III hitch will work perfectly on your 2016 Subaru Crosstrek and will line right up to existing holes in the vehicle's frame for a no-drill installation. I also really like the unique matte black finish on this hitch that creates a more rugged look and is resistant to scratches.
