Can Trailer With 14 Inch Wheels Upgrade to 15 Inch Wheel

Question:

I have a 2011 Gulfstream Visa , Gross Weight around 4000 lbs. Ive been running ST20575R14 tires load range C and have had two blow outs. Can I go to a 15 inch weel with 8 ply tires? Or maybe 14 inch load range D?

You can absolutely upgrade from a ST20575R14 tire, which fits a 14 inch wheel, to a 15 inch wheel and larger tires, so long as you have enough clearance from the top of the tire to your fender, which we recommend to be at least three inches.

A ST20575R14 tire and wheel will measure 26.3" in diameter when inflated while a ST205/75R15 tire and wheel measures 27.1" in diameter.

In order to switch to a larger wheel, you will need to know your bolt pattern, and I have added a link to a help article which explains how you can find this. The most common size is 5 on 4-1/2" so if you have that, the 15 inch wheel and tire I recommend is a load range D which has a 2,150 lb capacity, and these are available in different styles. I recommend the Westlake ST205/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire w/ 15" Silver Mod Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 - Load Range D # LHAW121

If you wanted to simply upgrade to a better tire and keep your ST20575R14 size, you could do that as well. I recommend sticking with Westlake for the reasons I mentioned and using the Westlake ST205/75R14 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range D # 274-000012.

I have added links to video reviews for you to check out as well.
