Towing Capacity of 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe With Towing Package

Question:

2018 Hyundai XL. Is the transmission cooler good enough for me to tow 3500 lbs Although the tow capacity with trailer brakes is rated at 5000 lbs. I am not sure if my actual Sante Fe XL is equipped with the transmission cooler I need. I have asked the dealership and it depends who you talk to. I have had a yes and a no answer. Please help. Thanks in advance

I took a look at the online owner's manual for a 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe, which is what our source is for towing capacities, and it did not mention a transmission cooler as part of its trailer capacity. It simply stated that with a brake system and with the trailer package you have a 5,000 lb capacity, so if you have the trailer package you have a 5,000 lb capacity. It is very odd the dealership cannot tell you what is in your vehicle though if you have the trailer package, the owner's manual says you have a 5,000 lb capacity.

I recommend calling the dealer with your VIN and simply asking if you have the towing package, which would indicate you do have the cooler you need. If your dealer cannot find that out for you as they should, contact a different Hyundai dealer in the area who is capable of helping you.
