Which is Better for Towing Travel Trailer with 2016 Ram 2500 Gooseneck Hitch or 5th Wheel Hitch
Question:
Hello, I have a 16 ram 2500 mega cab and looking at a fifth wheel camper sprinter limited 3671fwlft. The truck does not have the fifth wheel prep package from the factory. So I am wondering if a bandw turnover ball system and a goosebox would be more cost efficient with the same towing compacity or should I get a fifth wheel hitch like a bandw companion? Complete newbie to towing fifth wheels.

Since your 2016 Ram 2500 Mega Cab has a short bed a gooseneck adapter on your trailer would not be your best solution. Since you have a short bed you'll need extra clearance to make tight turns to prevent the nose of the trailer from hitting the cab of your truck. Since there isn't a great way to do that with a gooseneck setup you'd want to stick with a fifth wheel hitch setup since this allows the use of slider hitches which do give extra turning clearance.
For a sliding hitch you cannot go wrong with the B and W Companion hitch part # BWRVK3400. This is a USA made hitch that is widely considered to be the best hitch available. It's quiet, easy to use, and very reliable.
To install it in your Ram all you need is the rail kit/gooseneck hitch part # BWGNRK1384 which I attached an install video for as well.
