When Should Trailer Brake Shoes be Replaced for 12" Brakes
Question:
At what material thickness should I be thinking about replacing the shoes? Just by looking at the current pair, I dont know how much wear is left.

About 1/16" thickness remaining on your brakes shoes is a good time to replace your brake shoes with the Replacement Shoe and Lining Kit for 12" Manual-Adjust Brake Assembly # AKBRKR-S-12.
It may be that you need to replace them before this thickness, it just depends how they feel to you; if you notice you are losing some performance and having more trouble stopping then that would certainly be an appropriate time to change them as well.
