How To Hook Up Trailer with Two Brown Wires to Vehicle with One Brown Wire

Question:

My trailer has 4 wires, yellow/brown, green/brown, yellow, and green. I have a 4 way plug coming from my truck white, yellow, green and brown. I cant get the turn signals or brake lights to work. The only lights that I can get to work is when I turn on the head lights. I connect the brown wire from the 4 way to the yellow/brown and green/ brown. All the lights bulbs in the trailer work.

There should be five wires on your trailer side connector, a white wire which is for a ground, the yellow/brown and green/brown are for the running lights, a green wire for the right turn/stop light, and a yellow wire for the left turn/stop light because you have a wishbone wiring harness like part # A35W42B. In order to attach these wires to the vehicle side connector you will need to attach both yellow/brown and green/brown wires to the brown wire, the yellow wires together, and the green wires together. The two white ground wires will be grounded to each side of the vehicle/trailer. If the stop/turn signal lights still don't work you most likely have a shorted wire or blown fuse.

I have attached a trailer wring help article for you as well.
