Does Pilot Hole Diameter Matter When Replacing Trailer Wheels

Question:

I’m looking to upsize my boat trailer tires from 4.80/4.00-8 to 5.70-8. So my question is the Diameter of the hole the goes over the hub on the rim for the tires 5.70–8 is bigger than the 4.80/4.00-8 tire that fits over the hub. But the lugs line up fine can I still use them. Or does the hole have to be snug. Thanks

Trailer wheels like what is included with the Kenda 5.70-8 Bias Trailer Tire with Wheel # AM30153 are centered on the lugs, not the hub, so the pilot hole size does not matter (as long as it's large enough to fit over the hub). The bigger pilot hole diameter on this wheel won't be a problem when using them to replace your current set.

Just be sure that the bolt pattern on the new wheels match up to your current hubs and you're good to go!

I have attached a short video review on this tire and wheel combo that you can check out as well.
