Output Shorted Message on Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Brake Controller
Question:
I have a 2013 chevy, we have installed the extra wiring since gm was behind the curve ...? The controller is now saying output shortage No brakes I was just hoping to figure this issue out, and I have set it to hydraulic brkaes as well? Thank you,

The "Output Shorted" message on the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller part # 90195 indicates that there is a short on the blue brake output wire. If you just installed the brake controller then make sure you have the blue wire attached to the dark blue wire on the vehicle under your dash.
If the brake controller shows the error when no trailer is attached then you know the issue is on the vehicle side. That said you will need to check the trailer connector for corrosion but if none is found you really just ought to run a new wire part # 10-1-1 as much of the factory wire is hidden.
If the brake controller shows the error when there is a trailer attached but not when there is no trailer attached then you know the issue is on the trailer side. If this is the case then again check the trailer connector for corrosion but most likely you have a short on the blue brake output wire so you need to either trace or replace with part # 10-1-1.
