How to Install Roof Rack for 2016 Toyota Highlander with Wider Crossbar Spread

Question:

I saw your answer to the 2015 question 2016 is the same body, but if I use the foam block option, do I sit the kayak right side up? I have a 9 ft Dagger Zydeco. Why would Toyota give no option but crossbars that are 2 feet wide?! Grrrrr Thanks for your help!

I have a great roof rack solution that will fit the roof of your 2016 Toyota Highlander and give you crossbars that have a wider spread for carrying kayaks. The SeaSucker roof rack part number # 298-SX6000B is a rack that has been confirmed as a fit for your vehicle and uses vacuum cups to attach the bars to the roof of your vehicle. This allows you to space them out a bit further to work for your application.

Then for a kayak carrier you could use the Yakima JayLow part # Y04073 which will work great. It's padded, easy to load since it's a J-style, and can fold down when not in use to help minimize wind noise.
