To install a brake controller on your 2011 Ford Explorer, you will first need to determine if the vehicle has a factory installed 4-Way trailer connector or 7-Way trailer connector. If it came with a factory 7-Way trailer connector, you will just need the brake controller, # 90885 that you have selected, and the wiring adapter, # 3035-P. I have included a link to a video showing a typical installation and a link to some instructions for you to view.

If the vehicle came with a factory 4-Way, you will need the brake controller, # 90885, and 7-Way connector and installation kit, # ETBC7. I have included some additional links that will explain how to install the ETBC7 kit.
