Will 14 Inch Wheels and Tires Fit an Aluma Motorcycle Trailer

Question:

My trailer has 4.80 x 12 wheels and tires. Can I put a 14inch wheel and tire on this and still have clearance?

Expert Reply:

The 4.80 x 12 trailer tires you have now are 20.7" diameter x 4.9" wide. The smallest available tire we have for a 14" wheel is a 205/75-14 which measures 26.3" diameter x 8.1" wide. Therefore, you most likely won't be able to fit this size tire on your Aluma Motorcycle Trailer without modifications. That said, if the reason that you would like to go with a larger tire is for a higher speed rating I do have an option for you in the Taskmaster 4.80R12 Radial Trailer Tire part # TT48012C which is rated for use up to 81 mph.

The only way we can offer you to clear a larger 205/75-14 wheel/tire like the Castle Rock ST205/75R14 Radial Tire w/ 14" Condor Aluminum Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 - LR C - Gunmetal # LH84VR would be to install the Timbren Heavy-Duty Axle-Less Trailer Suspension part # ASR2KHDS03 with the Dexter Trailer Idler Hub Assembly part # 84545UC1-EZ.
