5th Wheel Hitch Replacement for Andersen Ultimate to Reduce Chucking

Question:

I have a new 5th wheel trailer and I have a lot of bucking and what I would call pulling back when driving. It is not fun. The dry weight of trailer is 8540 and the hitch weight is 1530. That is under 20 more like 17. Weight loaded is 9930 and if the hitch weight doesn’t change to much after loading it is about 15. Is this the issue with the bucking? Should I go to a normal hitch setup?

The biggest factor that is related to trailer bucking is the fifth wheel hitch used. If you wanted to reduce the chucking your best option will be to use a standard hitch that has a tight jaw system.

Since you have a short bed truck you'll need a slider hitch. For that I'd recommend the Curt A20 # C16541 because it has a dual jaw that holds the king pin tightly and its slider will give you 12" of travel.
