Trailer Brake Controller for 2005 Chevy Silverado 1500 With Factory 7-Way

Question:

2005 chevy pickup C1500. I want to pull a small camper that has electric brakes. What will I need to do/buy to make the camper brakes work? My truck has the 7 pin plug at the bumper but no voltage on the trail brake pin.

To make your camper brakes work you will simply need to add a brake controller to your 2005 Chevy Silverado 1500. That is very simple to do, because to install a brake controller in your '05 Silverado 1500 with a factory 7-way all you need is the brake controller and wiring harness that fits your truck; the brake controller pin will not have voltage without a brake controller installed.

I highly recommend the Tekonsha Voyager Trailer Brake Controller # 39510 because it is a very effective and reliable brake controller that will supply you with smooth braking but is a cost-effective option relative to other controllers. To install this in your '05 Chevy you will only need the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers # 3015-P which you will plug into the junction box located under the dash like in the accompanying photo.

I have also added a link to a video of this adapter being plugged into an '05 Chevy so you can see for yourself how to do it.
