Can Reese Fifth Wheel Hitch # 30051 be Moved from 2002 Ford F-250 to a 2009 Model

Question:

Will a reese 16000 # 30051 off of a 02 ford F-250 short bed fit an 09 ford f-250 long bed? It appears there is 22inch center to center on both frame to frame. Thx

If the fifth wheel hitch installation rails installed in the 2009 model were manufactured by Reese, Curt or Valley, the Reese # 30051 fifth wheel hitch you have will fit just fine, but without knowing the manufacturer, I cannot say with absolute certainty.

The 22 inch center to center dimension from the front to the rear rail that you mentioned compares to the information I have. You will also need to ensure that the slots cut into each rail are the correct distance apart. Each rail will have six slots cut into the top face. On each rail, the outer two slots should be 29 inches apart, measured center-to-center. The middle two slots should be 20.624 or 20-5/8 inches apart center-to-center, and the inner two holes 9.99 inches apart, measured center-to-center (see photo).

Since you are using a sliding hitch, be sure to leave the hitch slid all the way forward while towing. Sliding the hitch rearward would possibly place too much weight rearward of the truck axle, leading to diminished steering response.
