Can the Draw-Tite # 76253 Trailer Hitch be Used to Tow a Pop Up Camper with a 2019 Subaru Ascent
Question:
I found this hitch for my 2019 Subaru Ascent Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2inch Item # 76253. I see its for towing a trailer and bike racks. Is a proper hitch to haul a pop up camper? Thank you

Yes! The Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 76253 is an excellent option for towing a pop up camper with your 2019 Subaru Ascent.
You will need some additional items to tow your pop up camper. I took a look at the online version of your owner's manual and it states that your Ascent is only capable of towing a trailer up to 1,000 lbs if it doesn't have brakes. If your Ascent has the air-cooled continuously variable transmission fluid cooler then you can tow up to 5,000 lbs when the trailer has brakes. If your Ascent doesn't have the cooler then you are limited to 2,000 lbs. Since pop up campers tend to sit around the 2,000 lb range you need to verify if you have the cooler or not and then make sure that your pop up camper has brakes and it doesn't exceed your weight capacity.
To finish out your towing setup you need the T-One # 118790 along with adiitional wiring and a brake controller. I recommend using the wiring kit # ETBC7L and the Curt Echo Brake Controller # C51180 because you won't have to route wiring into the cab of your Ascent and you can use your Apple or Android smart device to adjust the settings on the Echo via the app.
