Is Lippert Scissor Jack Set # JSC-24 Strong Enough for Trailer with 16,000 Pound GVWR
Question:
I want to replace both rear stabilizers on my 5th wheel camper. It has a GVWR of 16000 lbs. The most it has ever weighed is 12800 lbs with 10400 lbs on the axels. The measurement from the frame to the ground is 19. The current jacks are made by Lippert but have no markings to indicate weight capacity. It appears the mounting holes on the JSC-24 are a match to my current jacks. Is the capacity of the JSC-24 suitable for my needs? If not, do you have a recommendation?

Helpful Expert Reply:
Using both scissor jacks included with the Lippert Jack Set # JSC-24 will give you a combined weight capacity of 10,000 pounds. Because scissor jacks are only designed to stabilize a portion of the trailer's weight and not its full GVWR these will be plenty strong enough for your 5th wheel camper that typically weighs 12,800 pounds at most. Even if you were to creep up towards the trailer's 16,000 pound GVWR these would still be sufficient.
These jacks feature an extended height of 24 inches and will work great to stabilize the trailer. I have attached an image of their mounting bolt pattern that you can also take a look at.
