Reese Goose Box Bedrail Clearance Compatibility for Stock 2019 RAM 3500 HD Dually

Question:

I just purchased a new 2019 RAM 3500 HD Dually with factory fifth wheel and Gooseneck prep. I have a 2018 Jayco Talon 413T toy hauler with a stock Lippert 1621 HD pin box. Will this adapter give me the proper bed rail clearance on my new RAM? Im having trouble out of my current fifth wheel hitch and am interested in using this new adapter instead by connecting directly to my factory gooseneck prep with the BandW GNZA2062 ball and safety chain kit. Also, if this adapter works, does the pin box adapter come with safety chains or are they separate?

The Reese Goose Box 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Air Ride Coupler Adapter - Lippert 1621 and 0719 - 20,000 lbs # RP85FR is a direct replacement for the Lippert 1621 HD pin box you have. This adapter will give you the bed rail clearance needed for your 2019 Ram 3500 Dually.

For your OEM gooseneck you will want the B&W Ball and Safety Chain Kit for Ram Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch # BWGNXA2062 and the Reese Safety Chain Kit with Clevis Hooks - 44" Long - 20,000 lbs - Qty 2 # RP49151.

I have a 2016 Open Range Highlander 38RGR toy hauler, 18,875 GVWR. Currently the rv has a Trailaire 21,000 pin box. Im currently using a B&W 5th wheel puck system for my 2019 Ram 3500 DRW, 8 ft. bed. With the lowest setting on the 5th wheel and the highest setting on the pin box the rv is not riding level. Can the goose box be a safe replacement weight capacity concern for the rv?

Since the most your Open Range Highlander can weigh is 18,875 pounds, using the 20K Reese Goose Box won't be an issue at all with regards to weight capacity. It still offers a healthy safety margin over the trailer's loaded weight. Just be sure your factory pin box has the Lippert 1621, 1621HD, or 0719 bolt pattern.
