Should Trailer Tires be Same Size and Load Range
Question:
Can you have a P215 tire mounted on one side, and a P205 tire mounted on the other side of a lawn utility trailer? Is it safe? I have two P215s now. But want a spare. Most mounteds Ive found are only P205s. Also, can a D15 tire hold more weight than a R15 tire?

You are going to want to have the same tires with an equal load range on both sides of your trailer, even if they are the same size. The reason for this is the different pressures that each tire has means the tires will not wear evenly and this will likely cause not only problems with how the trailer rides but also excessive heat on one of the tires.
Additionally you mentioned P215 or P205 tires, which are passenger tires and are not designed for the rigors of trailer use; they have weaker sidewalls and are not going to last. As far as your question about "D" tires, they will not hold more weight than "R" tires.
For example, the Loadstar ST205/75D15 Bias Trailer Tire - Load Range C # AM1ST92 has a 1,820 lb capacity while the same size and load capacity radial tire, the Provider ST205/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range C # TTWTRTM2057515C also has a 1,820 lb capacity.
